Mount Mayon, considered a perfect stratovolcano, has erupted 48 times in the last 400 years. The strongest eruption dates back to 1814 when 1,200 people were found to fiery end in lava.

One of the most active volcanoes erupted Tuesday Tagalog Archipelago, throwing a huge column of ash into the sky, while locals and tourists were on its slopes, local authorities have indicated, according to which at least five people have died but an exact balance of victims is not yet available, according to Agence France Presse.

About 20 guides and tourists, including foreigners were on the slopes of Mount Mayon when it entered into eruption, said Eduardo del Rosario, Director of Disaster Management Council.

Group of tourists is only 500 meters from the crater of the volcano, when it entered into eruption, he added.

Mount Mayon is located in the south of the main island of the archipelago Tagalog, Luzon.
