However, if demons fled the man’s body as a result, well, that’s just a bonus.

Or at least so says the Vatican.

On Tuesday, the Holy See released a statement that said Pope Francis didn’t perform the ancient ritual in front of TV cameras despite claims to the contrary.

“The Holy Father had no intention to perform any exorcism,” the Rev. Federico Lombardi said, according to CNN.

“Instead, as he frequently does for the sick and suffering persons who approach him, he simply meant to pray for a suffering person who was presented to him.”

During a mass Sunday in St. Peter’s Square, cameras captured the pope greeting a line of visitors.

Exorcism experts who saw the video say there’s no doubt what happened.

Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican’s former exorcist, told media it “was an exorcism alright and if Father Lombardi denies this, he clearly does not have a clue.”

“That was a real exorcism and what is more, the boy the pope exorcized came to me today,” Amorth said, according to Agence France-Presse.

“His name is Angelo and he is possessed by four demons. I performed a long exorcism on him.”

Pope Francis has often referenced the devil or demons in his sermons, the Associated Press said.

He went as far as telling bishops that those who don’t pray to God, “prays to the devil.”

The injured flooded into hospitals, and the authorities said many people remained trapped, even as rescue workers struggled to make their way through debris-clogged streets to the devastated suburb of Moore, where much of the damage occurred.

Amy Elliott, the spokeswoman for the Oklahoma City medical examiner, said at least 91 people had died, including the children, and officials said that toll was likely to climb. Hospitals reported at least 145 p

The BBC, the Guardian and several other news outlets both put the feared toll at 91.

Anderson Cooper 360 is now reporting that at least 20 of the 51 who have died are children.

President Barack Obama had declared a major disaster in the state, the BBC wrote.

The town of Moore had catastrophic damage, where homes were flattened, cars were flung through the air and two elementary schools packed with children were destroyed.

Several children were pulled out of the rubble of Plaza Towers Elementary alive, but there were no immediate reports of the number of rescued at Briarwood Elementary. Of the 120 injured and being treated at three hospitals, about 70 are children, some from Plaza Towers.

One patient was 9-year-old Kaileigh Hawkins, who was at one of the schools that was hit by the tornado. She is doing fine, but hospital officials have not been able to reach her parents.

Moore Medical Center was also severely damaged when its roof was ripped off. No one was injured, but staff had to relocate 30 patients to nearby Norman and another hospital.

Witnesses reported seeing rescue workers pulling bodies from the rubble in several locations.

“Numerous neighborhoods are completely leveled,” Sgt. Gary Knight of the Oklahoma City Police Department told The New York Times by telephone. “Neighborhoods just wiped clean.”

State Governor Mary Fallin gave a press conference at around 9 p.m. local time and said authorities have asked that civilians stay away from the disaster area.

“We have tremendous traffic jams on high ways that took a direct hit and there are many sides streets jammed up,” she noted.

Fallin also said that she would be taking an aerial tour of the area tomorrow with the National Guard.

“Please know we are working as quickly as we can. There are a tremendous amount of people involved,” Fallin said. “For those who are not involved please stay away from the direct vicinity so that we can take in the type of services that we need.”

His death was announced in a statement on the iconic band’s Facebook page, which added that he died  surrounded by his wife and brothers in a clinic in Rosenheim.

Morrison died in the bath in his Paris apartment of a suspected drug overdose in 1971, aged 27.

The lucky ticket was sold at a Publix supermarket in Zephyrhills, Fla., outside of Tampa, according to Florida Lottery executive Cindy O’Connell.

“This would be the sixth Florida Powerball winner and right now, it’s the sole winner of the largest ever Powerball jackpot,” O’Connell told the Associated Press.

“We’re delighted right now that we have the sole winner.”

Florida has had more than its share of luck when it comes to Powerball. It’s produced more jackpot winners than any other state.

The lone winner defied some seriously tough odds to take home the prize. Lottery officials put the chance of winning at 1 in 175.2 million.

But that didn’t stop Americans from lining up at convenience stores and gas stations to pick up their $2 chance to become an overnight multi-millionaire.

“As long as the odds are 1 in anything, I’m in,” marketing professional Becky Arreaga told Reuters. “I truly believe I could be the one.”

The jackpot of the 43-state lottery was originally expected to surpass $600 million – the second highest ever – but was later revised down to a little over $590 million.

Lottery officials did not say if the ticket had been claimed yet but once the lucky person claims their prize, the will have the option to take home one lump sum of roughly $377 million.

According to NBC News, “The very day you cash in your winning ticket you’ll be hit with a withholding that is deducted immediately from your payout. Then, next April, you’ll pay whatever additional tax you owe based on the bracket you’re in after you add up all your other earnings”

Luckily for the winner, Florida does not charge any state tax on lottery earnings.

The winning Powerball numbers drawn late Saturday were 10, 13, 14, 22, 52 with Powerball number 11.

The accident, which occurred Friday, involved members of the FBI’s elite Hostage Rescue Team, AP reported.

The victims were identified as Christopher Lorek, 41, and Stephen Shaw, 40.

No details on how it happened were disclosed, but an FBI spokeswoman in the Norfolk area said the deaths did not involve gunfire, the Washington Post reported.

Other media reports said it involved a helicopter but officials would not elaborate on the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Officials said Lorek, who joined the FBI in 1996, is survived by his wife and two daughters, aged 11 and 8.

Shaw had been in the FBI for eight years and is survived by his wife, and two young children.

FBI director Robert Mueller paid tribute to the men, describing them as “brave and courageous”, Fox News reported.

“Like all who serve on the Hostage Rescue Team, they accept the highest risk each and every day, when training and on operational missions, to keep our nation safe,” he said in a statement.

“Our hearts are with their wives, children, and other loved ones who feel their loss most deeply. And they will always be part of the FBI Family.”

The 49-year-old former star of Wham! was the only person injured when the Range Rover he was traveling in collided with another vehicle.

Paramedics airlifted Michael to hospital with head injuries, but his representatives said he was recovering quickly, Sky News said.

“George Michael was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a traffic accident on Thursday evening, no third party was involved,” the representative told Sky.

“He is being treated for superficial cuts and bruises but is fine. We have no further comment at this time.”

The crash happened north of London during rush hour on the M1, a busy English highway.

“The man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilization and immobilization by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care,” an ambulance spokesman told BBC.

Michael, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, was a passenger in the vehicle because he’s banned from driving.

In 2010, he crashed his Range Rover into a camera store while high on dope. A judge sentenced him to eight weeks in jail, fined him 1,250 pounds ($1,900) and banned him from driving for five years.

The general also survived numerous assassination attempts, including one in 1977 when a bomb exploded on a runway in Buenos Aires near a plane he was on.
