Dozens feared dead in DR Congo plane crash

Details: The aircraft crashed short of the runway while attempting to land in heavy rain at Goma Airport impacting buildings in the Lake Kivu area.

The plane, a Fokker 50 owned by CAA, crashed into a residential area during landing maneuvers.

The aircraft was operating a domestic flight and took off from the city of Lodja.

It seems the pilots lost control of the plane due to bad weather.

According to authorities, the airplane was carrying 40 people, 36 of whom died. The four survivors are in critical condition.
