The incident occurred when the riders were swallowed up at the entrance to the bullring, the arrival point of the race and one of the most dangerous places in the course of 848.6 meters through streets of the city.
A plug is formed at this point while two of the six bulls participating in the “bull run” rushed over the human mass, trampling some of the riders.
21 people were injured and hospitalized, including a Spaniard of 19 years who is in serious condition, told the media Dr. Javier Sesma, the emergency department of Navarra Hospital.
“It is a particularly serious injury who suffers from chest trauma with asphyxia syndrome,” said the doctor.
Two of the injured were beaten horn, added Dr. Sesma.
This incident is the first of its kind since the early running of the bulls of the San Fermin, which attract each morning at 8:00, since July 7, thousands of runners in the streets of Pamplona and ends Sunday.
22 people were injured so far, including three on Friday, had beaten horn.
The “bull runs” of San Fermin, most famous and most spectacular in Spain can be as deadly: 15 riders have been killed since 1911, the last, a Spaniard, in 2009.
